St. Jude Children's Hospital Charity Event

The St. Jude Children's Hospital event a couple of weeks ago really held true to my heart. I have been fortunate enough to have two healthy daughters and never needed the services they provide, but I know others are not as fortunate. One of the reasons why I have so much respect for what they do is because 100% of what is donated goes directly to their cause. I have always wanted to put on some event in the past, but I have never had the studio space. Now that I have the new space, I plan on making this an annual event. I discounted the mini-sessions to $75 a session (normal cost is $125-$150). All checks were made payable to St. Jude Children's Hospital. 100% of the proceeds were donated. I managed to raise $875 to donate to their charity. In the future, I want to try and involve more businesses in the community.

WHAT ARE MINI-SESSIONS

Mini-sessions are 30 minutes and include 10-15 images on a zip file. I use the zip file so you are able to share your images with anyone you please. I don’t believe in charging per picture pricing. I normally do them 4 times a year for each season. This is a way to give my clients a break on regularly priced sessions. If you join my mailing list, you will be the first to hear when these events are posted. They fill up fast so you have to act fast when you receive the emails. After the emails are sent out, I normally wait about hour and then post them on social media for everyone to see.

DETAILS ABOUT THE DAY

The sessions started at 9:00am and ran every half-hour. Each session included at least 10 images completely edited on a zip file. My husband assisted me throughout the day of the charity event. There were a few clients that cancelled last minute and I wasn't able to fill their spot, but they mentioned they still wanted to make a donation anyway. I was so happy to see that people were as passionate as I was about the charity.

MORE ABOUT THE CAUSE

"Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live." "Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%since it opened more than 50 years ago." "St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children." About Kerry Paradis Photography

I was born and raised in Perry hall (Baltimore area) and have been living in Harford County, Maryland for close to 15 years. I have two daughters that keep me very busy and a very understanding husband that helps keep me sane J I love all kinds of photography including Newborns, Weddings and Family. For the past several years I performed shoots out of my house, but recently opened a photography studio in Joppa, Maryland next to the “The Great Hall” Wedding Venue at the Millstad. My studio allows the perfect lighting to capture the best pictures and it is surrounded by 40 acres of property that is used by a ballet studio and gymnastics facility. There are plenty of places to photograph! I also have some favorite beautiful spots in the area that I like to photograph at as well. Whether you are looking to capture the first days of your baby’s life, the important times with your family, Senior Portraits for your High School Graduation, or walking down the aisle on your special wedding day, I would love for you to consider me! I do not take any of my business for granted and feel blessed to do what I love for my career. I invite you to check out my website and subscribe to my email list for exclusive discounts and updates. I try and write these blogs in a way that might answer some questions you may have. If you ever have any ideas for my blog, shoot me an email and I will be happy to see what I can do.
